能源與大宗物資價格高漲及美國次級房貸的爆發，除了衝擊全球金融面外，也波至實質面，造成各國消費、投資、出口、就業的全面衰退。面對襲捲而來的經濟衝擊，各國政府推出多項政策因應，期能透過刺激民間消費、擴大政府支出及促進出口，達到刺激景氣、提高國民所得的效果。面對前所未有的艱鉅挑戰，中華經濟研究院特舉辦「國際經濟危機之衝擊與啟示國際研討會」。
本研討會很榮幸地邀請到2008年諾貝爾經濟學獎得主、美國普林斯頓大學教授Paul Krugman博士及香港中文大學校長、中央研究院院士劉遵義博士進行二場專題演講，同時邀請英國、法國、日本及新加坡等四國主要經濟智庫主管來台，與國內產官學研各界人士齊聚ㄧ堂，針對金融風暴對各國造成的影響、產生的後續效應、各國因應對策，進行意見的交流並集思廣益。期能借鏡世界各國因應金融海嘯的經驗與作法，厚植台灣經濟持續發展的動力。
