Ⅰ Basic statistic information
1. From the raw data provided by Financial Data Center, Ministry of Finance and Directorate-general of budget accounting and statistics (DGBAS), value related to small and medium enterprises number, employment and employed, and sales (internal sales and export) after processing as following: In 2003 Taiwanese enterprises in rapid global economy recovery, and continuous global trade growth operated as a whole better than 2002. Total of enterprises was at 1,172 thousand, a 3.65% increase from 2002; national employment total of 9,573 thousand (1.26% increase); national employed 6898 thousand (increase 1.88%); total enterprise sales at NT 27 trillion and 670.6 billion (increase of 8.96%), including internal sales at 20 trillion and 337.9 billion, 73.50% of the total, a 10.61% increase from 2002, and export total as NT 7 trillion 332.7 billion (26.50% of the total, increase of 4.63%). There were 114.6 thousand small and medium enterprises in 2003, 97.83% out of all enterprises, a 3.77% increase from the year 2002; employment of 7425 thousand (77.56%) an increase of 0.87%; 4754 thousand employed (68.91%), increased 1.54%; 8 trillion 707.1 billion dollars (31.47%) sale, an increase of 16.17%; inner sale as 7 trillion 379.2 billion dollars (36.28%), a tremendous increase of 20.10%; export of 1 trillion 327.8 billion dollars (18.11%), a decrease of 1.71%.
2. The small and medium enterprises labor force in 2003: (1) Small and medium enterprises employers increased almost up to four thousand people in 2003 from 2002, a total of 493 thousand, a slight increase of women employers from 2002; (2) “Small and Medium Enterprises Manpower Assistance Program” from June 18 to December 31, a total of 41,386 people were approved for prize assistance, 10,992 small and medium enterprises benefited, 34,680 that actually assumed post; (3)The national economy improved in 2003, main income for certain
