Purpose of the Conference
In recent years, the U.S.-China trade war, the COVID-19 pandemic, and rising geopolitical risks have continued to disrupt global supply chains and the international trading order. Global industries have gradually shifted their focus from cost efficiency to supply chain resilience and economic security. Since U.S. President Donald Trump returned to the White House in 2025 under “Trump 2.0,” the United States has renewed its emphasis on the “America First” agenda. It is using high tariffs, export controls, investment screening, industrial subsidies, and other policy instruments to promote manufacturing reshoring and supply chain realignment. These measures have further accelerated the regionalization, bloc formation, and fragmentation of global supply chains. Geopolitical considerations are also gradually displacing market efficiency as a major factor shaping global supply chain strategies and corporate investment decisions.
In addition, the rapid development of artificial intelligence has made AI technologies and related industries central to global technological and economic competition. Key sectors such as semiconductors and the Internet of Vehicles have been profoundly affected by U.S. technology policy and U.S.-China competition. Countries worldwide, particularly in Asia, are also advancing national AI strategies and industrial policies to strengthen technological autonomy and supply chain resilience.
Against this backdrop, the conference will focus on “Global Supply Chain Trends amid the New U.S. Economic, Trade, and Technology Policy Landscape.” It will examine how shifts in U.S. policy are affecting global supply chains and AI policy development, and how major economies are building resilient supply chain networks. The discussions will provide valuable insights for future government policymaking and corporate strategy.
