The Survey of Taipei City Culture Indicator of 2005 was based on the plans employed by Taipei City Culture Indicator System. To facilitate some understanding of the quality of the culture life in Taipei City for 2004, this survey was aimed to provide an official statistical report on the artistic living and culture development in Taipei City for year 2005. The limitations, difficulties and improvement suggestions of conducting this survey were presented in a separate report “Summary Report on the Taipei City Culture Indicator”. The original cultural indicators are as followed: cultural asset, cultural environment, cultural, Cultural Living Standard, Cultural Activity, Cultural Exchange, Cultural Industry, This survey added subtopics as Movie Industry and Creative Indicator referring to that of Hong Kong. The standard data period of this survey was from January 1, 2005 to December 31, 2005; and the standard data date was December 31, 2005. Data collection methods used in this survey were: secondhand data collection and questionnaire interviews composed of telephone and mail interviews. Secondhand data was collected from governmental statistics and searching on various websites. Telephone interviews were used for “cultural participation and cultural consumption”. Residential phone book of Taipei City was used as population listing and a systematic random sampling was applied to select the telephone sample. Within a sample household, one person was randomly selected from all persons with age of 12 and over. The effective sample size was 1,081 persons. Mail survey was conducted for movie industry in Taipei City. Every company in the industry was mailed a questionnaire. Telephone follow-ups were made to ask for return of questionnaires. Telephone interviews were then conducted for those companies not yet returned mail questionnaires. Finally, 18 companies completed questionnaires.
