Recent years have witnessed that the ongoing economic globalization restructures the world economy. Especially, the globalization intensifies the cross-border linkages in trade, capital flow and knowledge. In addition, the rejoining the global market of four BRICs’ economies in recent years reshapes the landscape of the world economy because of their huge economic scale and production capacities. Economic globalization and the rapid rise of BRICs’ economies not only raises a challenge to Taiwan’s economic development, but also offers it a development opportunity. Against the backdrop, how to redesign the economic strategies in cope with the developing trends and to leverage Taiwan’s competitive is central to the policy makers. This research project is organized by seven volumes. The first volume addresses the research background and questions. This research in second volume explores the effects of globalization upon Taiwan’s economy and also outlines the economic strategies. In the third and fourth units, the project further highlights the effects of BRICs’ rise, and also suggests the important strategies in cope with the important trend. In the fifth unit, this research evaluates the economic effect of “Kyoto Accord” on Taiwan’s economy due to the deduction on greenhouse gas emissions. The sixth volume of this research looks at the strategies for promoting Taiwan’s financial internationalization. Finally, the research in the seventh volume suggests that as an economic vision, Taiwan should head for the global value-added service center in the pursuit of high economic values by using global elites and accessing the global market.
