The world has become more intricately connected than ever because of globalisation and the development of digital technologies. For the purpose of engaging stakeholders of Taiwan in the global dialogue, this project endeavours to establish a foundation for facilitating communication between key decision makers of Taiwan and international stakeholders toward future collaboration. In March 2018, National Development Council and Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research (CIER) in cooperation with the Kiel Institute for the World Economy (IfW) organised and hosted GS Taipei Workshop 2018, with the overarching theme, “Shaping the Future of an Inclusive Digital Society”. The workshop brought together experts from academia, business, politics and the civil society to identify and discuss human-centred solutions for challenges of digital society and in addition, address big data and smart city issues. The discussion of the Taipei workshop had been extended to the Global Solutions Summit 2018 in Berlin. A session, “Big DATA: Risk or Opportunity for Inclusive Global Prosperity?”, was co-organised by CIER and IfW during the event. Futhermore, in order to better engage in global think tank network, CIER has organised offcial visits for key scholars and professionals in Japan, the host country of T20 and G20 2019.
