The purpose of this project is twofolds. First, Analyzing Taiwanese firms current status in terms of foreign trade investment and strategies. Second, after considering global competition and Taiwan’s special environment, strategically plan to strengthen Taiwan’s overseas trade and investment network. It is expected that Taiwannese firms can integrate global resources, and enhance overall industrial competitive strength at a later point.

After the analysis, the major policy recommendations can be summarized as follows.

1. Establish foreign investment information and data bank, and overseas assistance center to strengthen Taiwanese firms’ global deployment and exporting capability.

2. Establish free trade agreement related trade regulation, information platform to provide firms’ relevant information and create business opportunity. In addition, working on bilateral free trade agreement with other countries can also assist firms to grasp trade opportunities.

3. Strengthen studies regarding ASEAN, BRICs, East Europe and Latin America to assist Taiwanese firms to reach goals on diversifying market and global deployment.

4. Promote small and medium sized firms to react to global green product supply chain and related global environmental protection discipline, to facilitate them to export European market.

5. Set up marketing service company to assist SMEs’ to engage in international marketing.
