This paper studies the structural changes and economic effects of agricultural reform in Mainland China since 1977. It finds that Mainland China’s Agricultural economy has changed from one of orthodox socialism into one of liberal socialism. It also finds that inflation, financial deficits, and labor productivity are the key factors which have influenced the direction of economic reform in Mainland China.
