National Chengchi University (NCCU) officially opened the 2026 NCCU Innofest Final Project Exhibition on June 1 at Siwei Hall. The event brought together 129 student teams and more than 650 students from NCCU and partner institutions, showcasing diverse achievements in artificial intelligence, data analytics, sustainability, digital transformation, and interdisciplinary innovation.
In addition to projects from NCCU, this year’s exhibition welcomed participants from Kyushu University (Japan), National Taipei University of Technology (NTUT), and National Taichung University of Science and Technology (NTCUST). Through cross-institutional and international exchanges, the event fostered new opportunities for collaboration and innovation.
Distinguished guests from government, industry, and academia attended the opening ceremony, including representatives from the Administration for Digital Industries (ADI), Ministry of Digital Affairs (MODA), the Chinese National Federation of Industries (CNFI), the Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research (CIER), and the Taiwan Artificial Intelligence Academy. Together, they witnessed the innovative achievements of students applying interdisciplinary approaches to real-world challenges.
Representing NCCU at the opening ceremony, Executive Vice President Shu-Heng Chen noted that Innofest has grown into one of the university’s signature innovation events since its launch by the International College of Innovation four years ago.
He emphasized that innovation often emerges from the exchange of ideas and perspectives across disciplines. Innofest serves as a platform where creativity, knowledge, and diverse expertise intersect, enabling students, faculty members, and industry partners to transform early-stage ideas into tangible outcomes through collaboration and dialogue.
Executive Vice President Chen encouraged students to remain curious, continue exploring new possibilities, and challenge conventional boundaries. Drawing on historical examples such as the European Enlightenment and Johannes Gutenberg’s invention of the printing press, he highlighted how transformative innovation often results from connecting different fields of knowledge rather than relying solely on technological breakthroughs.
He expressed hope that the interdisciplinary environment fostered by Innofest would inspire students to learn from one another and create new opportunities for innovation.
A representative from the Administration for Digital Industries (ADI) remarked that artificial intelligence is rapidly reducing barriers between disciplines and industries while generating unprecedented demand for digital talent.
The representative explained that ADI has long invested in digital talent development through professional training programs, industry-driven projects, hands-on learning opportunities, and practical skill-building initiatives. These efforts help students strengthen their industry readiness and bridge the gap between academic learning and workplace expectations.
ADI also praised NCCU’s ongoing commitment to interdisciplinary innovation and AI talent cultivation, expressing strong support for Innofest and its continued growth. Students were encouraged to leverage AI technologies alongside domain expertise to create meaningful innovations that address real-world challenges and contribute to social and industrial development.
From an industry perspective, a representative from the Chinese National Federation of Industries (CNFI) observed that AI is rapidly becoming an essential tool across virtually every sector.
Beyond manufacturing, steel, petrochemicals, and textiles, AI is increasingly influencing the humanities, social sciences, and everyday life. Through this year’s exhibition, visitors were able to see students applying AI to real-world challenges such as shared mobility optimization, pet identification systems, and healthcare solutions—demonstrating the tremendous potential of interdisciplinary AI applications.
The representative emphasized that the future of AI depends not only on technological advancement but also on the integration of AI with domain-specific expertise. Students were encouraged to cultivate interdisciplinary problem-solving skills and continuously refine their solutions by combining professional knowledge with AI tools, thereby creating greater value for society and industry.
During the closing ceremony, president Li remark that Innofest has become a highly anticipated tradition each semester and an important platform for showcasing NCCU’s achievements in interdisciplinary innovation education. He emphasized that the university’s goal is to cultivate talent capable of addressing real-world challenges and transforming academic knowledge into practical solutions that benefit society.
He further highlighted that AI is reshaping nearly every field, and project-based learning provides students with valuable opportunities to examine issues they care about through the lens of artificial intelligence. According to President Li, Innofest is more than a showcase of academic achievements—it is also a platform for creativity, collaboration, and inspiration.
He encouraged students to continue developing their projects beyond the exhibition, whether through future coursework, research initiatives, or entrepreneurial ventures. By sustaining their passion for AI and interdisciplinary innovation, students can continue exploring new possibilities and contribute to making Innofest one of NCCU’s most distinctive educational initiatives.
The success of Innofest was made possible through the collaborative efforts of numerous academic and institutional partners.
Co-organizing partners included NCCU’s Interdisciplinary Artificial Intelligence Center (IAIC), International College of Innovation, College of Science, Department of Mathematical Sciences, Career Center, College of Informatics, Bachelor Program in Artificial Intelligence Applications, Digital Content & Technologies Program, and the Center for Sustainable Innovation and Democratic Studies.
Collaborating organizations included the Department of Information and Finance Management, National Taipei University of Technology, National Taichung University of Science and Technology, Robert T. Huang Entrepreneurship Center (QREC), Kyushu University, the Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research (CIER), and the Institute for Information Industry (III).
Through interdisciplinary, inter-university, and international collaboration, these partners have jointly created a platform for innovation, practical learning, and knowledge exchange. Their collective efforts demonstrate the achievements of AI-era talent cultivation and lay a stronger foundation for future industry-academia partnerships, international cooperation, and entrepreneurial development.
As AI continues to reshape society, Innofest serves not only as a showcase of student achievement but also as a catalyst for future collaboration across academia, industry, government, and international partners. By bringing together diverse perspectives and expertise, the event highlights NCCU’s commitment to fostering interdisciplinary innovation and cultivating the next generation of AI talent.
