Dr. Cyrus C. Y. Chu and TZENG, Ｏvid J-L were both elected as the Member of the Third-World Academy of Sciences on October 19th. World-wide, there were now only 20 Members in the social science group, and it is really difficult to be elected in this group. In other fields we had Dr. Lee Yuan T., Dr. Chi-Huey Wong and several others from Taiwan elected before.
Among the original 20 Members in the social science group, there are some famous people. Fernando Cardoso was the former Brazil President; Partha Dasgupta was a first-class India economist taught at Cambridge; and Justin Lin is the Vice-president of the World Bank.
