Supply Chain Restructuring and the New Competitive Landscape Amid Cost Disarray: Taiwan Purchasing Managers’ Operational Outlook Seminar

The 2026 U.S.-Iran conflict has sent shockwaves through energy markets, magnifying geopolitical disruptions and triggering severe volatility in raw material, energy, and freight costs. Enterprises now face unprecedented cost disarray and complex decision-making challenges. As global supply chains pivot from an efficiency-driven model toward a supply-led, prioritization-based paradigm, the fundamental rules of industrial competition are being rewritten.

The Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research (CIER) will host the “Supply Chain Restructuring and the New Competitive Landscape Amid Cost Disarray” seminar on the afternoon of Friday, July 24, 2026. Dr. Shin-Hui Chen of the CIER will open the event by presenting the latest 2026 PMI and NMI operational outlooks and analyzing the immediate industrial fallout and corporate strategic shifts triggered by the U.S.-Iran war. In a departure from past formats, this seminar features an exclusive executive summit dialogue. Chairman Chi-Yuan Liang and Chairman Bao-Lang Chen will offer deep-dive analyses of the critical shifts driving cost disruptions and supply chain realignment, exploring these issues from the perspectives of energy policy and industry practice. Moderated by Consultant Jerry Pai of the Supply Management Institute, Taiwan (SMIT), alongside Dr. Shin-Hui Chen, the session will leverage supply chain strategy frameworks and PMI survey insights to guide a high-level corporate dialogue. A concluding panel will synthesize PMI data, executive discourse, and macroeconomic perspectives to distill the core trajectories of supply chain recalibration and competitive evolution.
