7/25 New Industry Landscape: “Strategic Positioning Amid Tariffs and Geopolitical Risks” Business Outlook Seminar for Taiwan’s Procurement Managers

Taiwan’s manufacturing sector outperformed expectations in Q1 2025. However, starting in Q2, reciprocal tariff policies, escalating geopolitical risks, and intensified exchange rate fluctuations have led to operational divergence in the manufacturing industry, driven by end-market demand and technological constraints. Domestic non-manufacturing sectors are facing challenges from stock and currency market volatility, declining consumer demand, and pressures to transform their business models. In light of global changes, what are the current industry conditions, risks, strategic approaches, and outlook for the second half of 2025?

The Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research (CIER) will host the “2025 New Industry Landscape: Strategic Positioning Amid Tariffs and Geopolitical Risks” seminar on Friday afternoon, July 25, 2025. The seminar will begin with a keynote address by Kenny Pan, President of Huntsman Corporation for the Asia-Pacific region. Titled “Sustainable Operations and Innovation Strategies Amid Geopolitical Challenges,” the keynote will explore how a leading global chemical company navigates geopolitical competition and implements sustainable transformation through innovative strategies. “Session 2” will feature a report by Shin-Hui Chen, Associate Research Fellow at the CIER, on the “2025 H1 PMI/NMI Business Operations Outlook Survey.” It summarizes the impact of tariffs, geopolitical tensions, and global financial volatility on Taiwan’s industries, along with operational adjustments and the latest outlook. “Session 3” will be led by Shin-Horng Chen, Vice President of CIER, focusing on “The Impact of Trump 2.0 Geopolitics on Taiwan’s ICT Industry.” It offers exclusive insights into the technological, production, and operational dynamics of the semiconductor and ICT sectors, as well as their dynamics under tariffs and the “MAGA” agenda alongside strategic redesigns. The event will conclude with a thorough discussion and networking session, providing industry managers, media representatives, and financial professionals with up-to-date trend analysis and risk assessments.
