This study focuses on Mainland China’s agricultural development, the change in agriculture policy, and the competitive and complementary nature of Mainland China and Taiwan’s agricultural products.

There are twelve chapters to this study. In the first chapter, it is pointed out that Communist China realized the importance of agriculture sector after the Tiananmen Massacre incident in 1989. Next the historical stages of Mainland China’s agricultural development are introduced in Chapter 2.

In Chapter 3 and Chapter 4, a detailed discussion of the Joint-FamilyOperation system and Agricultural Products Marketing Institute is given.

In Chapter 5, the shining star in Mainland China’s future economy – the country enterprise is analyzed.

In Chapter 6, the Enlarged Production Function of Jensen & Meckling, 1979 is employed to analyze the economic revolution in Communist China’s farm villages.

In Chapter 7 and Chapter 8, investigations into the complementary and competitive nature of Taiwan and Communist China’s agricultural products in foreign markets, such as Japan, Hong Kong and the U.S.A., are conducted.

Chapter 9 is concerned about the serious problem of agricultural product smuggling from Mainland China into Taiwan; several solutions to the problem are then suggested.

In Chapter 10, a prospective outlook for agricultural transactions across the Taiwan strait is propounded.

Then, the import market for vegetables in Hong Kong is taken as an example to analyze the competitive flow of agricultural products Mainland China and Taiwan in Chapter 11.

Finally, the study concludes with the discovery that the Joint Commission on Rural Reconstruction (J.C.R.R.) Model displays the best mode of transaction to extend Taiwan’s experiences to Mainland China.
