The aim of the paper is to employ an appropriate research model to allocate the budget of Taiwan’s government-funded Science and Technology Project (STP) in priority areas.

Based on a survey on 111 technology experts and employing both Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Fishbein methods, our empirical result suggests that STP should allocate its budget to electrical / information areas with top priority, then followed by automation / machinery, materials / process, food / medicine and environment/resources, respectively.

Furthermore, after comparing the survey results with STP’s current practice, we found that there is not much difference on budget allocation in the areas of automation / machinery, materials / process and food / medicine. However, our survey results also show that STP should relocate part of its current budget from electrical /information area to environment/resource area.
