Introduction of The Center for Financial and Economic Strategies

The Center for Financial and Economic Strategies was established on July 1, 1999 to strengthen the provision of services to industry and to society as a whole, to provide all sectors within society with the latest financial and economic knowledge, and to meet the needs of "lifelong learning." Building on the foundations provided by the research that has been carried out by CIER over the years, the Center organizes academic events, lectures and educational outreach courses in various fields, in line with CIER's objective of proactively serving industry and the general public.

The Center for Financial and Economic Strategies plans and organizes courses and training seminars on topics related to economics, finance, knowledge management, etc. The Center also undertakes projects commissioned by the government to organize conferences, seminars and group visits related to major domestic and international economic and financial issues and to "cross-Strait" economic and trade relations between Taiwan and Mainland China.

Since 2008, the Center has organized the Chung-Hua Financial and Economic Summit on an annual basis, with an average of over 20 leading business enterprises participating each year. The Center has also been responsible for the planning of five major ongoing series of activities: the Chung-Hua Financial and Economic Policy Summit, the Chung-Hua Financial and Economic Trends Conference, the Chung-Hua Financial and Economic Special Report, the Chung-Hua Leadership Course, and the Program for Inviting Leading Figures in Economics and Finance in Mainland China to Visit Taiwan. The Center aims to help provide Taiwan's business enterprises with financial, economic and management knowledge needed to develop a broader international vision, while at the same time building platforms for interaction and dialog among senior figures in industry, government, academia, and research institutes, in line with CIER's goals of implementing effective monitoring of economic and financial trends, providing useful policy recommendations, implementing human resources cultivation, and working for the public good.
