The Second Research Division
IntroductionThe Second Research Division focuses on the global economy. In taking advantage of the specialties of its researchers, this division also carries out special projects on local and international issues. Research on the global economy covers four areas, as follows: the regional economy, international organizations, important development trends in international economics and trade, and issues on energy and environmental protection. This division also assists the government in promoting trade and economic relations with important trading partners, the goal being to achieve mutual trade and economic benefits, upgrade Taiwan's international trade and build a policy structure and environment conducive to economic and trade development. The Second Research Division considers as part of its goals understanding important trends in international economics and trade, helping adjust Taiwan's relevant policies, responding to international efforts on energy and environmental protection and setting a strong foundation for sustainable development. The projects this division carries out mainly focus on trade and investment, technology policies and innovation, energy sources and ecology, tourism and regional development, and telecommunications and the Internet economy.
